Ding Dong the Bill is Dead!
Today was one of the most important days in the history of America. The so called “immigration reform bill” is dead.
Ding dong the bill is dead. Which old bill? The wicked bill!
The immigration bill that would have given amnesty to 12 million illegal aliens is dead . . . for now. This bill was supported by nearly all Democrats, but more importantly, even our conservative President George W. Bush! For many Republicans, the President’s support of this bill was the writing on the wall – he isn’t the conservative we voted for. After all, this is the bill that was written by Senator “I’ve never met a drink I don’t like” Ted Kennedy. And not surprisingly, it was also supported by Republican / Democrat (it depends which day it is) Senator John McCain.
Finally the government listens to the people! The majority of U.S. citizens, yes even liberals, did not want amnesty for illegal aliens. The vote ended up being 46 to 53 against further discussion about the immigration bill. They needed 60 votes to continue discussion and vote on the bill. No cloture (more discussion) means the free-for-all amnesty bill will not go to the Senate for a final vote. It’s dead until we get a new president next year.
You CAN make a difference. Your letters, emails and phone calls forced Congress to do what is best for America. Yes, they do sometimes listen! South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint (R) best described the argument over amnesty. He said this was “a war between the American people and their government,” adding that the vote was “about whether or not we’re going to listen to the American people.”

The most important thing to come from this debate, besides not giving amnesty to 12 million ILLEGALS, is that our elected officials will still listen to us if our voice is loud enough. The second most important revelation is that two presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, both voted for the amnesty bill. Both of these anti-Americans have a chance to win the Democratic nomination, and a fairly good chance of winning the Presidency in 2008.
So our elected officials still listen to us when they absolutely have to. However, we need to elect individuals who will not blindly support amnesty while ignoring the voice of the people. Most importantly, we need to focus on Presidential candidates who will support amnesty, and do everything in our power to make sure they have no say in the matter. This includes Republican / Democrat John McCain.
McCain isn’t the only idiot. We already know Harry Reid is an idiot, but he will use whatever tactics he can to support amnesty and get the Hispanic vote. Even as far as saying that your emails and calls were “”filled with prejudice and hatred and venom.” Nice spin there Harry. No, we don’t want to secure the borders and save our country, we’re just a bunch or racists. Diane Feinstein, Democrat Senator of California, went as far as saying the American people are too stupid to understand that opening the nation’s borders to anyone who wants to come in is good for them.

U.S. Waives White Flag to France Immigration Reform
Well, the U.S. looks like the wimps now. Believe it or not, France is harder on illegal immigration than America. Yes, that’s right, France is tougher than the United States at one game - keeping illegal aliens out of their country. Considering our lack of border security, and the fact we can’t pass a new bill that doesn’t include amnesty, it’s not really surprising France is doing a better job than us.
The new President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy, is setting higher quotes for the number of illegal immigrants to be arrested each month. Guess what they do with the illegal aliens after they arrest them? France sends them back where they came from. What a novel idea!
Heck, the government of France even pays the illegals to leave! Each couple can receive $4,700 for leaving on their own free will. Considering the sky high cost to support the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in this country, it would be a lot cheaper to just pay them to leave. But wait, then they could just sneak across the border again and play the game all over.
Maybe we should do what France is doing. How about closing the borders for starters? After that we can decide on bills, laws, quotas, money and everything else. For once (and probably only once) - let’s be like France.
How Much Are Businesses at Fault for Illegal Immigration?
A journal in Oregon raises the notion that employers are at the root of the immigration problem. Now, we all realize that the lack of secure borders is also at the root of our problems, but he raises a good point.
Companies including major industrial manufacturers can get away with terrible conditions: unsafe environments, dangerous equipment, unergonomic motions, and other situations where the normal legal American would and should complain about. But your local friendly neighborhood illegal alien will gladly work in those conditions for more hours and less pay. After all, they came here illegally with basically the clothes on their back - and they need the money!
We should let these poor, helpless, innocent “undocumented workers” make a living like everyone else! Right? Well, as a recent raid in a Portland business taught us, many of the illegal aliens have criminal records. Crime is bad enough in many parts of America - we don’t need any more from down south.

The Financial Cost of Illegal Immigration
Illegal immigrants already cost us $100 billion dollars every year. That’s right, “B” as in BILLION. Should the guest worker program become law, it will cost Americans 3.9 TRILLION dollars over the next decade.
The below video spells out the facts and makes a very good point. For those of you who are claiming that we need these low skilled workers to do the “cheap work” Americans won’t do, well the illegal immigrants are paid a lot more than you think. In fact, you’re paying for most of it. Each of the these families pay $10,000 in taxes every year. However, they receive $32,000 in “free” benefits. If you do the quick and easy math, every one of these families that we so desperately need cost us tax payers $22,000 every year.
One of my favorite questions is….did all of the legal Americans who worked at McDonalds just happen to find better paying jobs the last few years?
