Illegal Alien Criminals at California Wildfires
Illegal immigrants have been busy during the California wildfires. On Wednesday, October 24th, six to eight illegal aliens were arrested for stealing food, water and supplies meant for victims of the fires. They were spotted by witnesses who reported they stole at least three loads of stolen goods in their van. The illegals were confronted by San Diego Police who called Border Patrol agents because the illegals only spoke Spanish. After briefly interviewing them, the thieving immigrants admitted they had stolen the donated goods. It has been reported they were selling the goods at a marked up price.
There have been several reports of illegal immigrants, or immigrants who are allegedly here legally, committing arson. Catalino Pineda was arrested after he was seen starting a fire in the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday and then leaving the fire. It has been reported the Guatemala native has a questionable background and several organizations are looking into the history of his alleged legal status. Gorgonio Nava, who currently has a detainer by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was arrested for starting a fire in a San Diego suburb. Illegal immigrants have also been starting international fires near the border to distract U.S. Border Patrol. There is a deep history of illegal immigrants starting fires near U.S. Border Patrol locations.
On Sunday afternoon, October 26th, U.S. Customs Inspectors in east San Diego abandoned their station as the wildfires were too close for comfort. Not longer after the chain to the fence was cut, the gate swung open and people were rushing through the Tecate Port. “Who knows if they had papers or not?” said Adan Nunez Estrada, a Mexican Customs inspector who works at the crossing. Witnesses have reported that some people disappeared into the hills west of town and suspected looters may have been among them.
In desperate times like these, with devastating wildfires and legal residents’ homes burned to nothing, it is a shame our law enforcement, border security and even hospitals are further burdened by the illegal immigration problem. We should be able to focus all of our resources on our legal citizens, but until we begin to focus on the illegal immigration problem there will always be an extra burden on our resources. It’s just more apparent when there is a national disaster.
Texas Expands Arrests of Illegal Immigrants Crossing Border
U.S. Border Agents are arresting more illegal immigrants who cross the Texas border illegally. Starting last Wednesday, they are arresting illegal immigrants who cross the border near Laredo, Texas.
“This is the chief’s view of the future. We’re talking national,” said Ramon Rivera, Border Patrol spokesman. “It sends a strong message that we’re not letting illegal border crossers have a free ride.”
The program began in 2005 near the Del Rio area, which is a 210-mile stretch along the middle of the southern Texas border. The program then expanded to western Arizona last year. Instead of picking up illegal immigrants on the border and deporting them back to Mexico, only to find them back in a few weeks or months, the U.S. Border Patrol wants to teach them a lesson in hopes they will never cross the border illegally again. Immigrants who came into this country illegally and were natives of a country other than Mexico, were often just given a court date which they didn’t show up for.
U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Ramon Rivera said there has been a 46 percent reduction in border apprehensions in the Del Rio area since the zero-tolerance policy went into effect. The number of arrests in western Arizona decreased nearly 70 percent after immigration and federal prosecutors began locking up illegal immigrants last year.
Nearly everyone who is caught in the Yuma area is prosecuted. The Yuma sector includes 125 miles of western Arizona and a little of eastern California. Of course, exceptions are made for pregnant women and families with children that would be separated if the parents were jailed. There is a term for this, which we won’t mention today, that involves illegals getting pregnant just so they can stay here. There is no law that allows for illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S. should they have a child while crossing the border or after they have lived here, but the federal government is encouraging the practice by not addressing this specific problem.
Bottom line, whether or not you agree with tax dollars paying for illegal immigrants to live in jail, is that the threat of jail time for illegal immigrants is decreasing the amount who try to cross the border. That’s a good thing.
DREAM Act Fails to Pass Cloture Vote
It was a small step for man, and a large step for some of our elected officials. The DREAM Act cloture vote did not get enough votes to pass. This will allow Senators who take the illegal immigration problem seriously to perhaps filibuster the DREAM Act when it comes around for a full official vote. However, therefore, please do note . . . it is just a small step. The DREAM Act will come back, and if there are just a few minor amendments added that provide the tiniest amount of border security it could easily pass.
Frank Sharry, the executive director of the National Immigration Forum, called the vote “a huge disappointment to immigrant communities and those seeking a solution to the dysfunctional immigration system in America.”
“We fear the result was a matter of politicians — particularly Republicans — not wanting to confront obstinate members of their own parties in order to let the majority’s will — and the people’s will — prevail.
The majority’s will? The people’s will? Maybe the majority of illegal immigrants . . .
It doesn’t matter how you spin a poll, the majority of legal U.S. citizens do not want what equates to basically unbridled amnesty for illegal immigrants, even if our weak-on-immigration President supports it.

I think that the Dream Act should happen because they are many teenagers out theire that are trying to be a better person and actually be somebody. Not all illegal imigrants are the same you should put yourself in theire shoe’s. SAy YES TO THE DREAM ACT gIVE those teenagers a chance they deserve it only GOD should judge not people.

Amy, thanks for your comments. You wrote the above comments from Region 19 Education Service Center serving El Paso and Hudspeth Counties in Texas, according to your IP address. Based on your grammar, I truly hope you are a student and not a teacher. It’s ironic that those two counties have one of the worst illegal immigration problems in U.S., but you want to give nearly all of them amnesty. Maybe you are an illegal immigrant going to an American school paid for by American tax payers?
Your argument is the same old tired liberal argument, “It’s for the children.” The unfortunate truth to the DREAM Act is that it’s not just for 16 - 18 year olds, it’s for any illegal alien up to the age of 30 that was here before they were 16. How do we prove they illegally crossed the border before they were 16? We can’t. So there will be a huge abuse of the DREAM Act, just like a huge abuse of our open borders, and it will give amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants under the age of 30. Then those people will sponsor their families which will cause millions of more illegal immigrants, no matter the crime they committed that we can’t prove, to become legal citizens. (It also doesn’t include a DNA test like France is trying to do, so we won’t even be able to prove that they’re family!)
It also gives federal grants and loans to illegal immigrants for education, which our legal foreign citizens can’t even get. Why should illegal aliens get better treatment than foreign citizens who followed the law to come to this great country?

Senator Dick Durbin, along with Senator Dick Lugar, will be meeting tomorrow morning at a staff meeting regarding the DREAM Act to support ILLEGAL immigration. Dingy Harry Reid and Dick Durbin filed for a cloture vote today, and they will vote on the DREAM Act tomorrow. All they need is 60 YES votes to prevent a filibuster, which will make it much, much easier for the DREAM Act to go through.

We’ll go into much more detail later, but the DREAM Act basically gives amnesty to any illegal immigrant under the age of 30, gives them Federal student loans and Federal work-study programs (which law abiding foreign citizens cannot receive), allows illegal aliens and criminals to be in our military, severely restricts law enforcement to deport any illegal immigrant who has signed up for the amnesty program, etc. It will give amnesty to 2.1 million illegals (if they lie to sign up it could be much more) and 1.4 million relatives who the feds won’t deport. It is a big ole’ AMNESTY ACT!

Comments From Indiana Regarding Illegal Immigration
As promised, here are just a handful of the 400 plus comments from Indiana residents in response to the illegal immigration article we previously discussed.
I know of a man that was recently fired along with other “white American employees”, all to cut costs.. Right! But all the Mexicans were kept on the job. This company, on the northside, does electrical work, and my question is” are they at least paying taxes(?), or paid cash “under the table”. The wife of this man has tried to report this but no one will listen.
“Economist Philip Martin of the University of California likes to tell a story about the state’s tomato industry. In the early 1960s, growers relied on seasonal Mexican laborers, brought in under the government’s “bracero” program. The Mexicans picked the tomatoes that were then processed into ketchup and other products. In 1964 Congress killed the program despite growers’ warnings that its abolition would doom their industry. What happened? Well, plant scientists developed oblong tomatoes that could be harvested by machine. Since then, California’s tomato output has risen fivefold.”
As a nurse, I’m seeing lots of illegals - hispanics and samoans show up in ER’s and guess who is paying the bill? You and I with our tax dollars. Then they can’t understand English so we are paying for interpretors, and they don’t have anything, so the social worker is involved. Some now have a pretty good system — know they can ask for cribs and car seats, etc. Your hospital costs are going up because of illegals.

We have mentioned Frankfort, Indiana before and always wished there were some statistics out there to prove our claims, which we have seen firsthand. There was an interesting article in the Indianapolis Star this morning regarding the huge illegal immigration problem in Frankfort, a small city in Indiana. The City of Frankfort has a large number of industrial plants considering it’s population of 17,000, which is one of the many reasons why illegal immigrants have flocked there. Indiana Packers, also known as Indiana Kitchen, is the only business (located in nearby Delphi, IN) mentioned in the article that hires “Hispanics.” However, there are many illegal employers in Frankfort. Ironically, the motto for Indiana Kitchen is “A Very Particular Food Company” . . . well, “particular” unless it pertains to their hiring practices and employing illegal workers.
The article, written by Ted Evanoff and Tania E. Lopez, paints a rosy picture of illegal immigrants and downplays the problem citing no crime statistics or mention of gangs in Frankfort. They not only provided a perfect example of liberal bias in the media, they also gave some very interesting facts which caused the roses they painted to quickly wilt.
Playing out in this Clinton County city of 16,662, where one in four residents is Hispanic, are the fears and hopes brought on by America’s immigration surge.
In the past seven years, according to various estimates, the state’s Hispanic population has soared 39 percent to 300,857, including 50,000 to 85,000 immigrants deemed illegal because they entered the United States unlawfully without proper visas and work permits. (”Deemed illegal” - nice choice of words.)
Manufacturers employ about 30 percent of the state’s working Hispanics. Clerical and sales jobs are held by another 20 percent.
A quiet factory city that processes soybeans and makes candy and auto parts, Frankfort has been overwhelmingly white for generations. Since 2000, though, the Hispanic population has doubled. Most newcomers are Mexican, El Salvadorian and Guatemalan nationals who arrived from Chicago, Los Angeles and Texas.
Frankfort Mayor Don Stock said the sudden influx has jarred many longtime residents. Their concerns about graffiti, drive-by shootings, overly crowded Hispanic homes and plunging test scores at Frankfort High and Kyger Elementary have caused local leaders to respond, the mayor said.
“This should have been handled by Washington, but they want cheap labor,” said Kaspar, 85, a plain-spoken U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. “We’re paying a high price for Washington’s betrayal.”
Last month, the Chamber of Commerce distributed a letter that recommends agencies and employers ask job seekers and others who speak poor or no English for proper documents. If the papers are insufficient, officials are advised to deny services except where legally required, such as in the St. Vincent’s Hospital emergency room or in public schools. “It’s not intolerant,” said Gina Sheets, the chamber’s economic development director. “It’s upholding the laws.”
Today, various estimates figure 25 percent to 70 percent of Frankfort and Clinton County Hispanic residents arrived illegally, part of an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants employed nationwide.
In factories throughout the nation located outside big cities, 40 percent of all machine operators, inspectors and production workers are Hispanic.
“As manufacturers, we put a lot of money and effort in training our people,” said Edward Nelson, president of Indiana Packers Corp., a pork processing plant near Frankfort that employs 1,700 workers, primarily Hispanic. “We notice an awful lot of our employees getting into 401(k)s and buying houses.”
Residents of Frankfort have known about this problem for a long time. Only 5 - 10 years ago the manufacturing plants employed legal U.S. citizens, but for the past several years the plants are FILLED with illegal immigrants. Barely any white or black legal residents to found, only Hispanic employees that can barely speak English.
The article received over 200 comments in just a few hours, and the vast majority of them were from Frankfort and Indiana residents fed up with the illegal immigration problem. Even though the Indianapolis Star, owned by Gannet, tried to paint a rosy picture, the readers saw through the rose thorns and spoke up against the illegal immigration problem. We will follow up in a separate post with some of the best comments from Indiana residents.
Frankfort, Indiana - Now is the time to WAKE UP! As residents have complained, the manufacturing plants “own” the City and Mayor Don Stock has done NOTHING to stop the problem. Many towns, cities and states across the nation have taken the law into their own hands - and now is the time for Frankfort to do the same thing.
First thing on your agenda? Vote for Independent Chris Pippenger for Mayor of Frankfort. Here are the positions from the three candidates, it is pretty clear who you should vote for:
Pippenger: Regulations and laws must be enforced for everyone. We have many uninsured illegal drivers; also, our laws provide the opportunity to get these cars off the road. Then there is 287(g) … (of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which defines Department of Homeland Security immigration enforcement training for local law enforcement) … and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement program.
Stock: The city plans to address the illegal portion of the question by enforcing the ordinances that we have on property maintenance. Also we have started to rezone D residential districts to control multifamily housing. (You should have started doing this five years ago Mayor. What about training local law enforcement as other cities have done very effectively, and as Chris Pippenger wisely recommends?)
Toney: There is only so much the mayor can do. We have to enforce the existing city ordinances, federal, and state laws. We cannot discriminate against any individual. (Thanks Democrat Candidate Chuck Toney for your brave approach to the problem.)

Senator Clinton speaks out against anti-illegal immigrant attitudes during the recent Univision debate:
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Senator Clinton, the negative tone of the immigration debate has left the country polarized and has created certain racist and discriminatory attitudes toward Hispanics.
SEN. HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON (D), NEW YORK: Well, I think this is a very serious problem. And, as I said earlier, there are many in the political, and, frankly, in the broadcast world today, who take a particular aim at our Latino population and I think it’s very destructive.
Maybe she was referring to politicians who will say anything to try and get as many votes as possible.
SEN. HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON (D), NEW YORK: “I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants. Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we’re going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let’s have a system that keeps track of them.
People have to stop employing illegal immigrants. … I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau counties, stand on the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx; you’re going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work.”

Oct 21st, 2007La Raza Claims Racism as Reason to Cancel Convention in Kansas City

Kansas City should be happy right now, even though they will lose about five million dollars in revenue. The National Council of La Raza’s board voted today to not hold their 2009 convention in Kansas City. This was in protest to a member of the Park Board, that’s right the board that makes suggestions for the parks in Kansas City. The board member in question, Frances Selmer, is a 70-year-old woman who was asked to join the board because she is good at growing plants.
However, Frances Selmer is also a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. (gasp!) Local Hispanic leaders claimed that their “principles” would not allow them to give money to a city that supports a group that conducts armed patrols of the Mexican border. They also added that the Minutemen use hateful and illegal speech towards Hispanics.
It is ironic that La Raza is worried about hateful and racist speech when they use it on a daily basis to support their cause. Frances Selmer and Minuteman members said that she belongs to a law abiding group that is not racist. Furthermore, her political views should have nothing to do with her service on the park board. (Maybe La Raza thought she was going to plant a bunch of anti-Latino flowers.)
Kudos go to Mayor Mark Funhowser for not curtailing to this pro-illegal immigration group. He refused to force the little old lady to step down from the park board or the Minutemen. Now his next concern is that the NAACP will not hold their 2010 convention in Kansas City. According to the NAACP, they would have to strongly consider La Raza’s decision before deciding to keep their convention in Kansas City.
Come on now! Strongly consider the position of a group such as La Raza?

- Tracy Owens was a pregnant mom, murdered by two illegal aliens while crossing the street.

- Troy Payton was stabbed to death with a butcher knife by an illegal alien, while defending his 15 year old daughter.
- Terry and Lisa Dilks were found murdered by an illegal alien, from multiple gunshot wounds. Their 15 year old son is now an orphan.
- Darlene Squires, mother of two deaf girls, 17 and 14, who were both violently raped by three illegal aliens. One of the girls has cerebral palsy.
48,000 Americans have been been murdered by illegal aliens since 9/11.

The healthcare system is stretched to the breaking point. It appears there is no going back, so anyone who tries to tell you that we can give amnesty to all of the illegal aliens currently in this country is lying to you, lying to themselves and/or has no idea how bad the immigration problem is. If a politician is proposing amnesty, they are either not doing their job as they don’t know the facts, or they are trying to keep the Hispanic votes to win the next election. (Our vote is on the latter.) It is really that simple, and you will understand why once you read about the below medical crisis in just a few of our states. We hope to have data for the rest of the country in the near future.
El Centro Regional Medical Center in California is fighting to stay in business. It is the first hospital north of the border, so it becomes one of the first places illegal immigrants show up who are ill or have been hurt. Like many hospitals in the U.S., they never turn a patient away. They can’t afford to do this. As of 2005, 16 clinics and 17 traumas centers closed in southern California alone. The California State Association of Hospitals says hospitals are on the brink of collapse.
The four L.A. County hospitals and clinics spend 340 million dollars a year on undocumented immigrants. The private hospitals spend another 100 million a year on illegal immigrants in this area. “The tax payers cannot be the HMO to the world,” said Michael Anthony, L.A. County Supervisor. “They have basically bankrupted the system and our Department of Health has a 1.2 billion dollar deficit.”
In San Diego researchers just completed a study of illegal immigrations overall financial impact on the county. “Last year San Diego County spent 101 million dollars providing services to undocumented immigrants,” stated John Weeks PhD from San Diego State University. That doesn’t count 155 million dollars in unpaid medical bills by illegal immigrants. “Between the hospitals and what the county is spending, that’s 250 million a year that our tax payers our getting the shaft for. We’re paying for it. It needs to stop. At some point we go broke, and I think we’re there,” said San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn. “Our focus here is not to be pro or anti immigration. The focus is to get the federal government to understand that particularly along the border, there are consequences to the failure of the government to have a firm immigration policy,” said John Weeks PhD.
A 2000 study found that emergency rooms in hospitals along the border spend 190 million dollars on unreimbursed care on undocumented aliens, and EMS provides another 13 million. However, that was seven years ago. The population has doubled since then and the expenses have tripled according to county officials.
At Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas about 16,000 babies are born every year, which is an average of 42 babies a day. More that 70 percent of them are delivered by undocumented mothers at a cost of $70,7000,000 dollars in 2004 alone. That was three years ago!
For years Dr. Gene Rogers was medial director of the Sacramento County Medically Indigent Medical Services Program. “It is my job to approve or deny public revenues for eligible patients. The county’s budget was being scrutinized at all levels, and they were looking at our department for cutting services,” said Dr. Rogers. He fought to convince them that rather than eliminating staff or cutting services, they should stop paying for undocumented immigrants non-emergency elective medical care. “Somebody had to say something and it was up to me to do it,” said Dr. Rogers. Unfortunately, nobody listened. Dr. Rogers fired a whistle blower lawsuit arguing the county was violating federal law.
“The immigration policy was that illegals that were here should be self-sufficient, except for emergency or public health issues. They weren’t to be allowed at the state or local level, non-emergency issued elective services with tax payer revenues, unless the state legislature passed a bill to provide that.” How did they respond? “August 6th of 2007, my supervisor entered my office and announced that the county no longer needed my services,” said Dr. Rogers.
