I live in Laredo right now.
I have yet to meet anyone who is afraid to leave their homes. I actually live in a fairly affluent yuppie neighborhood, where the biggest problem is stray cats.
I also work for the newspaper in Laredo. As far as I can tell, we’re not three hours away from the city, nor are the multiple television stations that represent the area.
Nuevo Laredo might be a different story, but I have travelled there, had fun there and met some good people there.
As for Flores being the sheriff of Laredo, he’s not. He’s the sheriff of Webb County. I don’t know if he was the one that told y’all that there are no media outlets within three hours of the city, but he has a personal grudge against us because he did not like the way we covered his election campaign.
I have written in Laredo for months now, and I have covered murders and drug deals gone wrong, and, so far, no angry Zetas have showed up at my house asking for blood. The worst problem in Laredo is the fact that, because it’s a small town, the government has a lot of incest; the best contracts always get awarded to family and friends. That’s about it. Yes, there’s crime here, and some of it is pretty nasty, but I lived in Philadelphia, too, and a friend of mine got her head smashed in with a tire iron there. The perpetrator, my friends, was white.
This story is sensationalism. It is a problem with online journalism on both the left and the right these days. Fact-checking has gone out the window. If you want to print this kind of nonsense, at least print Flores’ right title: Webb County Sheriff, NOT Laredo Sheriff.

What about when Texas and other states were part of Mexico, and the white people just came and stuck their nose where it shouldn’t be and decided to take our land. The mexicans were here first. But now we are considered illegal just because one day the gringos decided to come and take away what was ours just like they do in every country. Sticking their nose where it dont belong. And if this country is going to put :in god we trust” on the dollar bill, God is not racis nor does he say you belong here, you belong there. Everybody is equal and should be able to live wherever the hell they want to. Of course get the idiots that are comitting crimes, but shit leave the ones here and make them residents that are already paying taxes, and working hard. Aint no white person ever going to work for 6.50 an hour for the rest of their lives. That is what the “illegals” are for. So no…we are not taking your jobs, yall are just too damn lazy to do it , and somebody has to do it.

As long as big business wants cheap labor there WILL be illegal immigrants. They can be from asia, africa, or any third world country. If you think these CEO’s are about to give up their lifestyles to pay Americans more and give them healthcare you’re on another planet. The reason they are here is because of the bureaucracy of Washington and no one willing to “sack up” and enforce our borders and the immigration laws!! Ladies and gentleman when are we/ politicians going to admit that our country is under attack by domestic terrorists!

Why don’t you check the statistics to see how many prisoners in the federal prison system are illegal? Why don’t you check to see how many students sitting next to your kid in school can’t even speak English? Our middle school had to devote an entire wing of the school for ESL forcing overcrowding of legal American students throughout the rest of the school! Why don’t you try going to the emergency room only to wait behind the illegal’s, whose treatment you are going to eventually be paying for?

Our tax dollars, social services, social security and everything else we as Americans are entitled to are being sucked dry by people who are criminals- and by the way, have more rights than you do as a citizen of this great nation Via the lack of law enforcement. Illegal aliens have more rights than I do as a veteran/ military member/ American citizen!!!!! If that doesn’t make your head explode, I don’t know what will.

People always chant the “illegal immigrant mantra”, “They are just trying to make a better life for themselves!” Well, any criminal could say that couldn’t they? “Your Honor, I robbed that bank because I lost my job. I was just trying to make a better life for myself and my family.” I think everyone that gets arrested should just say that, if it works for the illegals, why not for everyone?

To all of those people proudly flying the flags of your home country…. If you’re so proud of where you are from, then why did you leave? Why are you here illegally? Oh yeah, your country you are so proud of is a third world toilet.

Build a wall, shoot them at the border and deport the ones here now! Look at California and you will see what the rest of the United States is in for, social and financial ruin!
You start sniping people attempting to illegally enter our country with a .50 cal and I’ll bet the flood of illegals slows to a trickle and eventually stops!

As a military member I swore an oath to defend our nation against enemies both foreign and domestic, give me a weapon and put me on the border. I will happily defend America as long as I have the ammo to do so! Hell, I will even go hand to hand when the ammo runs out!!

Politicians, my fellow Americans, it’s time to take our country back! This is a life or death situation and our way of life is on the chopping block!

Secure our borders and preserve the sovereignty of our nation, one bullet at a time if need be!! This is a war!

I would like to say that some of the comments posted are really sad. I like what dani said. If the United States put out the immigrants who would do all the dirty work? Most Americans sit on their buttts and complian. They don’t want to get on top of buildings and cut grass for major compainies or build decks in the heat or rain. The immigrants do. They understand the really meaning of taking care of home. They will get down in the mud and stay out in the dangerous heat for hours just to make sure that their family has food to eat and clothes on their backs. So as far as the one reader that called them ignorant, you are ignorant. How about you spend one day doing the work that they do. You wouldn’t maintain, You would complain all day and probably quit. That is another thing, they are not quitters.
Yes, there are some that come here and make it bad for the ones that are really trying to do something with their lives. Now to me, the ones that commit crimes should be sent back over the borders and kept in prison there. Prison in the United States may be the best thing that ever happend to them. As crazy as it may seem, it really might be, Think about it, in prison they get three free meals, cbale, clean sheets and clean clothes. All for free. Where as if they were sent back to their homes, they know that they would suffer more there than they would here.
As for the pregnant immigrants, give the baby a chance. if they go without healthcare, then they are at risk of spending major tax dollars. Where as if they get healthcare, they can avoid serious illnesses and avodi spending our tax dollars on that.
Stop balming immigrants for the way things are. Honestly, where I am from, they all took one day off and business had to shut down. Seriously. There was no one to clean, cook or build. I think that day was a really bad day, but it should have been an eye opener.
There are legal residents that are worse than illegal immigrants. So stop pointing the finger and being racist. Get a grip on life and take care of you and your family and be thankful that there are people here that are willing to do your dirty work.
