Immigration Laws Work - Illegals Decide to Leave Arizona

Arizonal Illegal Immigration Law Makes Illegal Aliens LeaveWell, what do you know. If you enforce existing immigration laws, and pass a new law to go after employers hiring illegal immigrants, the illegal aliens decide to leave! What a novel idea . . .

Arizona is probably the best example of a state that takes the problems of illegal immigration seriously. To put it plainly, they don’t mess around, which is important as Arizona is the most popular crossing point for illegal immigrants.

Beginning January 1st, 2008, new legislation will take into effect that will punish Arizona employers who hire illegal immigrants. Arizona voters approved the employer sanctions law which was designed by Arizona Representative Russell Pearce to force illegal immigrants to leave the state.

Businesses in Arizona that hire illegal immigrants could receive penalties ranging from probation to a 10-day suspension of their business license. Should the business get caught hiring illegal immigrants a second time, their business license could be revoked. That is one tough law - and more than one state should take note. The voters spoke and their elected officials actually listened.

What do you do if you are an illegal immigrant in Arizona? They have a pretty tough decision right now. It is reported that many illegal immigrants are choosing to leave Arizona or return home to Mexico. More than likely, they are going to move to neighboring states or better yet, a sanctuary city or state.

Mary - yup, your new Mayor has also stated that illegal immigration is a federal problem. In all fairness to Ballard, Senator Richard Lugar has one of the worst records on illegal immigration in Congress. The Governor, Congressmen, Mayor and all elected officials in Indiana need to be involved. It doesn’t look like the feds are going to fix this anytime soon.

Julie - thanks for the info. We’ll look into this.

Indiana State Senator, Mike Deplh -R Carmel is proposing a bill that will target and punish employers of illegals. The bill is gaining support form Republicans and Democrats. I think the bill will be needed more than ever, since some illegals will leave states such as Arizona and possibly come to Indiana.
Back in June, I commended Sen. Bayh for voting “No” to the amnesty bill. He responded to me that his reason for voting no is because the bill did not do ENOUGH to bring extended families of illegals into the country!!! So, things are not always as they seem. Sen. Lugar has a horrible record on amnesty!!
